Story Times for Hard Days: Maui, Grief, and Keiki

"Story Times for Hard Days"

Maui, Grief, and Keiki: An Opportunity to Talk Story

Sponsored by the Innovation and Engagement Missional Team

How do we engage in difficult conversations, especially intergenerational conversations about trauma, natural disasters, and grief? Jesus loved to tell parables, short stories, that could get people thinking and sharing. Listening and talking story about a children's picture book can empower our tears and our faith.

Jihey Roach, who in addition to being UCC clergy is a Board Certified Chaplain and a bereavement coordinator with Hawai’i Care Choices (Hospice of Hilo), and Jonathan Roach, who in addition to being our ACM has been a librarian including at the public libraries in Honoka’a and Laupahoehoe, are combining their skills to offer “Story Times for Hard Days.” During this Zoom presentation, Jihey and Jonathan will share some favorite story books for hard days and invite everyone to share and reflect. From pastors and Sunday School teachers, to families with small keiki and senior citizens, this story time will offer ways to engage at whatever level you are comfortable with.
