SUPPORT YOUTH AT THE ‘AHA

To the Churches and Members of the Hawai‘i Conference United Church of Christ:

What a joy and blessing our young people are to the life of the Hawai‘i Conference! As stated in Initiative #4 of our Conference’s Strategic Plan, we are committed to ensuring that young people are “welcomed, inspired, and free to give full expression to their faith—even if it looks different.”

In that spirit, the youth of our Conference will gather for the 203rd ‘Aha Pae‘āina (this June 2025) to explore the theme Built on a Firm Foundation. This year's gathering will be held on the island of Kaua‘i, where thirty youth from across our island associations will spend two nights at the Waineke Cabins.

During their time together, the youth will:

  • Engage with the University of Hawai‘i to learn about the environmental impact of the ʻŌhiʻa disease.

  • Participate in worship, conversations, and play.

  • Build new friendships and develop leadership skills rooted in faith.

Although the Formation Missional Team has budgeted funds for this event, and the Innovation and Engagement Missional Team has donated part of their budget, the cost of inter-island travel makes additional financial support necessary. While a modest registration fee is being collected, and generous contributions of housing and meals are being provided by Waineke Cabins, the Kaua‘i Association, and host churches in Kapa‘a, it is not enough. A grant application has also been submitted to Global H.O.P.E. of the National UCC to support this effort, particularly in empowering immigrant youth.

Now, we are turning to our local churches and communities!
We invite you to support the Youth Track of the 203rd ‘Aha Pae‘āina, taking place June 11–14, 2025. Your contributions will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our youth and the future of our Church.

Your prayers, encouragement, and financial support are deeply appreciated. Together, we are investing in tomorrow’s leaders today.

Stay tuned for a post-‘Aha update with reflections from the youth.
