Moloka‘i Churches Distribute Thanksgiving Meals

For the fifth year in a row, the Topside Moloka‘i UCC Council (Ho‘olehua, Kalaiakamanu Hou, Kalua‘aha and Waialua Congregational Churches) made turkey plates to distribute to the community on Moloka‘i. This ministry started as a sit-down lunch for those who didn't have a place to go for Thanksgiving. Due to the pandemic, it was changed to a drive-through event in 2020.
Each of the four churches prepared items for the lunch: turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, corn, ham, rolls, and dessert. This year, more than 400 heavy plates were given away and there were no leftovers. The food was plated by volunteers from all the churches in the social hall at Kalaiakamanu Hou, and the community was invited to drive through the parking lot to pick up plates. Plates were also delivered to seniors and families on the East side.
