The Association of Hawaiian Evangelical Churches (AHEC) held their 2026 Spring ‘Aha Hālāwai February 20 – 21, at Kona Lanakila Church in Kealakekua on Hawai‘i Island. Three people were installed.

Joyclynn Costa, Luna Ho‘omalu for AHEC, shares the following:
“As Luna Ho‘omalu for the Association of Hawaiian Evangelical Churches I continue to grow in humility as I witness greatness before my eyes. From eager students who hunger for indigenous theological knowledge, to licensures of our people who brought it forward from the back burner. Lastly, a woman of great strength with and through the love of Christ Jesus has been called to be ordained, fulfilling a dream she and her late husband ordained minister Charles Kaupiko had. Gourmet meals, farmed fresh coffee, ribbon leis, fun trivia, to name a few benefits of fellowshipping with the family of Hawaiian Churches. We welcome one and all to be a part of one ‘ohana. Mahalo ke Akua for our John Leong of Kona Lanakila, Rosalind Ioane, and ordained minister Melveen Kaupiko, both from Hau‘oli Kamana‘o. We are fulfilling our theme this year ‘The Best Is Yet to Come.’”
John Leong was installed as Kahu Pono of Kona Lanakila.
Melveen Kaupiko was ordained as Kahu La‘a of Hau‘oli Kamana‘o Church.
Rosalind Ioane was installed as Kahu Pono of Hau‘oli Kamana‘o.

We celebrate with AHEC and welcome their new kahu in the Hawai‘i Conference.
