AHEC in Kamehameha Day Parade

Contributed by Rennie Mau, Ewa Community Church

The Association of Hawaiian Evangelical Churches (AHEC) participated in the O‘ahu Kamehameha Day parade on Saturday, June 10th. It was the first time they were able to participate as the parade dates are usually when the ‘Aha Pae‘āina is happening.

Volunteers decorated the trolley. Participants of all ages from our various AHEC churches were able to sing, dance, and give witness to the 200-year legacy of our Hawaiian churches in the islands.

On December 22, 1871, King Kamehameha V proclaimed a national holiday to honor and celebrate his grandfather and the father of the Hawaiian Kingdom.
