The Special Meeting of the ‘Aha Pae‘āina will start at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022, via Zoom. Registered delegates were emailed information on September 27.

Business
Each delegate will be asked to vote on important issues and therefore it is vitally important for your church’s delegate(s) to familiarize themselves with information about the business items. Updated information can be found on this page (hcucc.org/special-meeting).

Voting Delegates
To be a voting delegate, you must be in one of these categories:
1. Local churches with standing in an association of the Hawai‘i Conference are entitled to:
a. One lay delegate for the first 200 members and an additional delegate for each 100 members or major fraction thereof, up to a maximum of five. (For example, a church with 251 members is entitled to two delegates: one lay delegate for the first 200 members plus one lay delegate for the major fraction [51] above 200. (Note that the number of church members is determined by 2021 UCC Yearbook listing.)
b. One youth/young adult delegate, 30 years of age or younger.
2. Ordained, Licensed, or Commissioned ministers with current standing in an association of the Hawai‘i Conference.
3. Members of Hawai‘i Conference Council and Chairs of standing and special committees.
4. Presidents of Associations and Recognized Affiliate Organizations (Woman’s Board of Missions, State Sunday School Association, Christian Endeavor Association, State Council of Hawaiian Congregational Churches, Council of Samoan Churches, Hawai‘i Pacific Islander and Asian American Ministries, and UCC Transition House).
Informational Gatherings by Island
The HCUCC will be convening a series of meetings by island September 5, 6, 7, 9, from 5 – 6:30 p.m. to present and review the proposed Conference budget in anticipation of a specially called ʻAha Pae‘āina on October 1, 2022. It is highly recommended that your church delegate(s) attend this meeting. The meeting information and Zoom link was included in the August 23, 2022, mailing.
