Henry ‘Ōpūkaha‘ia (1792-1818) is credited with inspiring the Sandwich Islands mission that brought Christianity to Hawai'i. Each year on the Sunday closest to the anniversary of his death (February 17), churches are encouraged to honor the legacy of the young Hawaiian and to receive an offering to support the Henry 'Ōpūkaha'ia Scholarship Fund.
