2024 Pastoral Leaders Retreat
September 24–26, 2024 (Tuesday–Thursday)
Hilo Coast UCC, Honomū, Hawai‘i Island

Our Conference Formation Missional Team, along with support of each Mokupuni, invite our beloved pastors, leaders, and Members in Discernment to renew our hope at this year’s retreat.
 

  • WORSHIP in the beauty of the Hāmākua coast
     

  • REST (Honomū - the very name means “silent bay”)
     

  • PLAY (“Choose your own adventure” free time plan)
     

  • CONSIDER the wisdom of Psalm 30 as we engage in honest lament (“weeping may linger for the night”) and find ways to transform our mourning into dancing (“joy comes with the morning”)​
     

  • PRAY with each other… and for the churches we shepherd... and for the world God loves… and for mana‘o‘i‘o – a renewing of our hope!

OUR FACILITATOR:

The Rev. Dr. Anna Madsen is a compassionate pastor (living in Minnesota), a compelling author (latest book: Joyful Defiance: Death Does Not Win the Day), and an engaging speaker whose theology of the cross (and resurrection!) is grounded in academic depth, poignant life experience and a willingness to engage the hard questions of faith and ministry with playful wit and a true sense of grace.

Registration Information

We encourage churches to pay their pastor’s registration fees. Our highly subsidized registration fee ($175 single occupancy; $150 double) takes into consideration the commitment to making this “away from the usual” place accessible to all! (The planning team is excited about bringing some much needed revenue to the people near our own Hilo Coast UCC.)
