2022 Pastoral Leaders Retreat
The Labyrinth: Release, Receive, Return!
1 Kings 19:1-18
Hawai‘i Conference Pastoral Leaders Retreat
In-person at the St. Anthony Retreat Center in Kalihi, O‘ahu
October 11-13, 2022, Tuesday 4:30 p.m. to Thursday 1:00 p.m.
When God asked the Prophet Elijah, “Why are you here?” (1 Kings 19:13b), it was a powerful question of spiritual identity, motivation, and purpose that required discernment and reflection. This year we are inviting our pastoral leaders to gather in a spirit of pilgrimage to discern, reflect, and prayerfully consider: Why are we here?
During these three days, we will worship, pray and meditate while we walk the path of labyrinths. We will engage our creativity (or lack thereof) to build and share labyrinth experiences. We will talk story with old and new friends as we haven’t been able to in over two years!
As we gather together to pray the pilgrim’s journey on the winding path of labyrinths, we will attempt to release the everyday burdens, noise, and challenges of ministry and life so that we can receive God’s wisdom in the silence of the labyrinth. And then we will consider how we are called to take that wisdom back out into our world and our ministries as we return. We hope this retreat will prepare all of us to return to ministry and life with renewed energy to ask deeper questions of ourselves and God.
