 About Us

UCC Transition House provides transitional housing services for women and children moving from abusive relationships to more normal and peaceful living conditions.
Our program offers safe residence for up to six months, enabling a family to calm down, get help, and plan for their future independent living.
We are unique in providing this long-term, extended and supportive residential care beyond emergency domestic violence shelters programs.

Who We Serve

Participants must be beyond immediate crisis and willing to accept responsibility for paying monthly rent and a mandatory savings program.
Open to people of all faiths, the Transition House provides basic housing.  In collaboration wiht the Counseling and Spiritual Care Center, individual and group counseling services are provided gratis to families.  All adults are required to participate in counseling whether in-house or by other means.
Space is available for three families.  A family may stay for up to six months, with possibilities for extension.

Admission Process
After a potential resident has determined that she and her children could benefit from the services of the Transition House, they will meet with a helping person to formulate long and short-term goals for their stay.  The resident will also be helped to prepare a family budget and savings plan.
The process includes submission of:
1. An intake application, available by calling 943-2837.
2. A statement of personal goals, which the resident will work toward with the assistance of staff.
3. A budget, taking into account anticipated income and expenses during for six months.
